Tall Girl Problems

Kendra, 17 years old, 5'10.5

For all the beautiful tall girls and the problems we have to endure. Through all the teasing, feeling out of place & short hems, I'm finally coming to a point where I realized that there's nothing wrong with being a little different. People still try to tear me down about it but there will always be people doing that. These problems are mostly to make you laugh & go "OH MY GOD. THAT'S MY LIFE." But this is more than just a place to share each other's problems. It's a support group where we encourage girls to see the beauty within them (so play nice, ladies). Ask me anything & feel free to submit!

"You're only as tall as your heart will let you be and you're only as small as the world will make you seem."

Is being a tall women “bad” or “good” according to society?

It really depends. On the good side, people think that being tall is all about basketball and modeling. On the bad side people think that being a tall woman makes you less than feminine. That;s why tall girls struggle with accepting their height. Young girls are being told that they’re are ugly and weird which sets them up for years of self-loathing. Overcoming societal criticisms is just a matter of understanding that you will never be perfect, no one is. It’s about self-acceptance and not just settling on the way you look, loving it.

helloimmanderson asked: Does anyone know any good stores to buy long prom dresses? (I'm 5'11" and a dress size 3/4) thank you for your help!

try dhgate and lightinthebox.com

backwardsmuffin asked: I'm 6-6.1 ft tall and weigh around 134 pounds/60-61ish kg, but i'm not sure what the average weight for someone of my height is. I go on dozens of sites to try and work it out but it always comes up with different results. I am not a naturally slim person and would ideally like to weigh a bit less than this, but don't want to risk doing myself too much damage. Do any followers know what the weight calculations for tall ladies are? - because i am stumped.

shawnaleianne asked: Today is my 22 birthday and I fell in LOVE with these Jessica Simpson turquoise heels. They've got a 5 1/2 inch heel and a 2 inch platform. I'm 5'10 with and 6'1 1/2 without. My parents bought them for me and I'm gonna rock them at my April wedding!

Send us pics!

countrygirl815 asked: Heyy! I'm 16 and 6'1 I definitely can relate to EVERYTHING you post! Lol. Finding guys are a struggle especially because my town is like short town. Lol. I'm wondering how you deal with people when you wear heals. I really wanna wear them, but first don't know where to find sizes big enough. And second donor want to get talked about for being mega giant. Thanks !

try the shop tall link on the blog; there are some stores that carry bigger sizes there.

Of course people are going to talk but what they say doesn’t doesn’t define who you are! Tall girl power!

apocalypshitt asked: Wow, what a blog, I'm 20 and 6'0, and i´m mexican, you could tell, Ive been always the tallest, I live in Baja California Sur, and its a small city, I do not wear heels that often I only have a few of 'em, when I was younger I hated the fact of being the tallest, I do not how i get throught it and just loved me the way I am, I know I have an extra power, and im used to have all the eyes on me. So im proud of me. So chin up girls realize that being taller, is cool :).

:)

incandescentluminesence asked: I'm 5'11 and I'm notorious among friends for picking out ridiculously high heels (I wore 6 1/2 inch stilettos to senior prom). It genuinely confuses me when tall girls fret over wearing the heels they want, because people will likely already comment, give you a second glance, and probably spare a third to peek at your shoes, so what difference will it really make if you're a few inches taller? You might as well be wearing whatever makes you happy. Screw anyone who tries to tell you otherwise. xx

emmyscorner asked: Ok, I've written into here before but I am again because now I'm kind of depressed. I really like this guy but he is 5'4 and I'm 6'0 and it will never work and it just sucks knowing that :( and its times like this that make me just want to be normal height because that would be so much easier

Before you think about a relationship, you should learn to become comfortable with you height. It’s hard to be in a relationship with an insecure person. If you don’t love the way you look, you won’t allow anyone else to.

If the two of you really like each other, it will not be the most important factor in your relationship.

Talk to him! He may like you back. You don’t want to throw away the opportunity to be with a cool guy because an uncertainty.
