Tall Girl Problems

Kendra, 17 years old, 5'10.5

For all the beautiful tall girls and the problems we have to endure. Through all the teasing, feeling out of place & short hems, I'm finally coming to a point where I realized that there's nothing wrong with being a little different. People still try to tear me down about it but there will always be people doing that. These problems are mostly to make you laugh & go "OH MY GOD. THAT'S MY LIFE." But this is more than just a place to share each other's problems. It's a support group where we encourage girls to see the beauty within them (so play nice, ladies). Ask me anything & feel free to submit!

"You're only as tall as your heart will let you be and you're only as small as the world will make you seem."

Tall Girl Problem: When you grow an inch taller after high school.

Oh yes, a tall blog!!

I went through your blog, and there’s no problem that I can’t or couldn’t relate:D I’m 25 y/o and 185cm tall (and superskinny for that matter so I look even taller). And you know what, I freakin love it! When I was younger it bothered me, so much. Every guy was too short for me (because man HAS to be taller then a woman), and I almost grown a hump because of my bad posture, all jeans looked mighty stupid on me (I still envy a little to those people that can wear their jeans rolled up a bit), people called me names and what not.

But now, I think great people come in great sizes:D I rejected pants altogether, looking more feminine in skirts. I finally admitted to myself that I am attracted to short chubby men (my bf is 7 cm shorter and 35 kg heavier than me:). He likes the fact that I can wrap my legs around him. Twice:)

I even make fun of my short friends sometimes (not too much of-course), ha! There’s so much I can do what other people can’t. I reach to the back of the top shelf to get smth for my mom. I see trains buses first, I’m easy to find in crowded places, I can switch light bulbs all by myself! No flood scares me! :D

Tall power!!

/and for all those people who think tall girls should only have two career options, modeling and basketball - you can suck it!

Sports

Hey y’all!!! So I’m 5’11” and I absolutely love my height! Like most of y’all I do find that it gets annoying when always asked some of the common questions and the comments about being tall.  For me I especially find the question of “do you play basketball or volleyball?” annoying.  I grew up with JRA which limited me physically, and I don’t like the assumption that being tall makes me athletic.  Personally I think it makes me more clumsy lol. For all my athletic tall girls out there, which I guess I count as now, there are other sports that being tall has an advantage in besides the ones that people commonly think of.  I joined the club crew team at my college and absolutely loved it!  Being tall has an advantage because of the motion you make when you stroke.  And no crew is not just a great arm workout, it is actually more of a leg workout, but is full body.  So if you are athletic and want a sport besides the stereotypical sports for tall girls, I have found crew to be awesome… although 5:30am practice does get old….seeing the sunrise every morning is a reminder of how beautiful God made this earth, and everyone in it!  I encourage you to embrace your height, and anything that helps make you the unique and beautiful you that you are!

Much love,

~Kitty

I’m 15 & I’m 5’10.5 & I’m still waiting to find a tall guy that actually likes tall girls. It bothers me when short girls say they like tall guys and when tall guys say they like short girls. Drives me crazy, because then what do we get? I don’t mind dating a shorter guy (just not too much shorter) but I just prefer a tall guy. Am I the only one with this problem?

second-handwings asked: Does anyone else have the problem that they're tall not because they have long legs but because they have a long torso? I also have big boobs. It makes finding cute shirts or long enough dresses impossible!

Me!

I have little boobs but oftentimes when I try on dresses, the hip part hits my waistline…

But I like the dresses at forever 21.

And JC Penney of course. My wardrobe is 99% JC Penney.

traditionallyunpredictable asked: So I'l like 5'11'' and while I love maxi dresses and skirts, I have yet to find one that's long enough for me without being too big on the hips. Where do you other tall girls get your maxi skirts?

JC Penney has some really nice spring maxis right now :)

boat-of-confusion asked: Until like last year, if anybody asked, I told people that I was 5'4". Note- I was 5'8" and fooling nobody. Partially, I hadn't been measured in a while, but also I was convincing myself that I wasn't this tall

Girl, own that height! I hope you are now.

nothing--without--you asked: Just letting you know that I love this blog so much! I don't have any really "tall friends" but on here I feel like I do!! Thank you!

We’re your friends and your family :)

nothing--without--you asked: Is 135-140 lbs for a 6'1 girl normal?

yes

Long Pants

I’m six foot, and I always see on here places to buy pants. I always buy my pants at Maurice’s. They have longs in store, otherwise they have extra long you can order online. That way you can try them on in store to see how they fit and special order them. I bought my skinny jeans there, just plain longs that fit great! They also have longs in dress pants, and is where I go when I’m looking for dresses that are actually long enough!
