Tall Girl Problems

Kendra, 17 years old, 5'10.5

For all the beautiful tall girls and the problems we have to endure. Through all the teasing, feeling out of place & short hems, I'm finally coming to a point where I realized that there's nothing wrong with being a little different. People still try to tear me down about it but there will always be people doing that. These problems are mostly to make you laugh & go "OH MY GOD. THAT'S MY LIFE." But this is more than just a place to share each other's problems. It's a support group where we encourage girls to see the beauty within them (so play nice, ladies). Ask me anything & feel free to submit!

"You're only as tall as your heart will let you be and you're only as small as the world will make you seem."

dreamingvaguely asked: The Wet Seal has extra length camis! They're a freaking life saver!

Thanks!

More Shops

Torrid.com and lanebryant.com both sell larger (11+) shoes and they have all different kinds.

Having to squat down while taking pictures with your friends!

aadoppelganger asked: Since winter is upon us, and socks are a must, I highly recommend SockDreams. I'm 5'11, and a biker, so my legs are long and build. It's the only place I've found where "Over the Knee" actually goes over the knee, as opposed to about calf height, or worse digging into my knee. Fast shipping times too! Also for shoes: I've found Shi (which is a woman focused division of Journey's) caries larger sizes in more unique shoes, including, for those who wear them, heels. Hope that helps!

Thanks girl!

Some new shoe sites I found :)

When your 6’ father tells you that it is acceptable for his 13 year old son to pass him in height, but not OK for his 23 year old daughter.

Confidence is key!

My name’s Emily, I’m 20 years old and 6’2”. I’ve been the exact same height since 8th grade. Growing up, I was teased a ton and it made me really self conscious and I started to hate myself because of it. In high school, I stopped myself from joining sports teams or from going to certain get togethers because I was afraid to draw more attention to myself than I was already getting from just walking down the halls. Looking back, I regret it because think of all the basketball games/volleyball games/etc. I could’ve kicked ass in! I was always told to model, and how lucky I am to have long legs, but never believed it myself. About a year ago, I just let it go. Why should any tall girl feel bad about herself for being tall? That’s crazy! You can go anywhere in the world and find hundreds of short girls- but you can’t go anywhere and find hundreds of tall girls! We’re a rare breed and that’s something to be proud of. If a Victoria’s Secret model walked into a room, would anyone be like “OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT? SHE’S SO TALLLL!” Nope! So why should we be any difference? We’re the same height as them! Models are preferably 5’8” or taller because clothes look best on long bodies. There are so many advantages to being a tall lady. Sure, the boys we like may not be 7’0” but who cares? My boyfriends 5’11” and there is nothing wrong with that. If anyone tells you differently, kill them with kindness. Girls being mean to you over something you have no control over is just wrong, and chances are they’re probably just self conscious about something themselves or even jealous. Embrace it when people are intimidated but you- it just means you have the upper hand. I know it’s not always easy, trust me, but the sooner you accept that the body you’re in is your body for life, the sooner you’ll be happy. :) It works if you work it and regardless of if you’re 5’2 or 6’2, NOTHING is sexier than confidence.

Tall and proud

Im a freshman in high school and 5’ 9”, my favorite shoes just happen to be wedges. I get shit every single time i wear them because they make me 6’ 2” or there abouts. I still wear them most often though and all my friends tell me I should just drop out of school and become a model. I mean, we do have the problem of most of the guys in school or just general life being forever short, or liking the genetic opposite, short girls, which i must admit is rather annoying. The guys cross country captain who is hot, cool, funny and talented, not to mention he is like 6’ 5”, is dating a girl who barley stands above 4 foot. Sometimes life isn’t fair, but you just have to go out amd embrace it! Love your tall and don’t be afraid to rock those heels.
