Tall Girl Problems
Kendra, 17 years old, 5'10.5For all the beautiful tall girls and the problems we have to endure. Through all the teasing, feeling out of place & short hems, I'm finally coming to a point where I realized that there's nothing wrong with being a little different. People still try to tear me down about it but there will always be people doing that. These problems are mostly to make you laugh & go "OH MY GOD. THAT'S MY LIFE." But this is more than just a place to share each other's problems. It's a support group where we encourage girls to see the beauty within them (so play nice, ladies). Ask me anything & feel free to submit!
"You're only as tall as your heart will let you be and you're only as small as the world will make you seem."
It really does get better!
to all the beautiful tall high school and college-aged girls out there, I want you to know it does get better!
I’m 6’ and have been since I was about 17. It used to bother me so much when people would talk about my height. Now I literally don’t notice it at all. I’m sure this is just the confidence and self-acceptance that comes with age (I’m 29! wow so old..) but I don’t think it affects my life at all anymore, except for on planes and sitting at low tables. And, of course, someone inevitably asks me to reach something off the high shelf at Target. (I’m like hello, I don’t work here!).
I’ve now come to think of it as an evolutionary advantage. We walk faster, run faster, can reach things with more ease. My gynecologist even told me tall women have an easier time giving birth! (my 5’10” mother gave birth to me after 20 minutes of labor). And now it’s fairly easy for us to find clothes that fit as well.
I know height can really be a problem when dealing with boys. I didn’t have many boyfriends in high school. I actually had one guy say to me junior year, “I would date you if you weren’t so tall.” It might suck now, but when you get a little older you will see there are plenty of guys under 6’ that will be in awe of your beauty! There are literally tons of guys who don’t care about height at all. I haven’t had trouble finding a boyfriend since I got out of high school, and many of them have been shorter than me. Honestly, I find the shorter ones more accepting. Oftentimes the guys who are 6’2” or so are very vain about their height and don’t want to date girls that aren’t a certain number of inches shorter then them. go figure. But anyway, just hang in there and it really will get better! :)
